The Construction of UV light:
UV light is an electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength from 100 nm to 400 nm, shorter than that of visible light but longer than X-rays. It is an important part of the sun light.
How does UV light impact on human health ?
1.Eyes Damage
The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies broad-spectrum ultraviolet radiation as a Group 1 carcinogen,
Strong and penetrating “Blue light ” in wavelength 380~400 can reach retina and cause various eye problems (like cataract, macular degeneration etc). According to WHO, worldwide approximately 18 million people are blind as a result of cataracts,of these 5% of all cataract related disease burden is directly attributable to UV radiation exposure.
2. Skin Damage
According to World Health Organization, between 50% and 90% of skin cancers are due to UV radiation. In 2015,there were 200,000 cases of melanoma and 65,000 melanoma-associated deaths world wide. In addition, there were 2.8 million cases of squamous cell carcinoma and 10 million cases of basal cell carcinoma.
An easy test to see the difference with and without UV400 films
(1) use UV light to flash on counterfeit detection area, you’ll see UV fluorescence
(2) when there’s UV400 film in between, UV light is absorbed by our film and you will not see UV fluorescence.
